Being a prepper doesn’t mean you are going to survive SHTF.
The overall goal of every prepper is to survive a SHTF situation, or any disaster for that matter. It doesn’t matter how much food your have stored, or how many weapons, bug out bags, bug out locations, or whatever else, none of these will guarantee your survival.
It goes without saying though, that if you are prepared, you have a far higher chance of surviving a SHTF situation, that those who are not prepared.
So, lets get to it, and look at the three reasons why most preppers will die when SHTF.
1. They Rely on Gear too Much
Many preppers rely too much on the gear they have, and the supplies they have stored away. This will not guarantee survival.
What if your gear is stolen? Gets lost or broken? What will you do then?
What are you going to do when you run out of food? Do you know how to hunt? How to filter and purify water without a LifeStraw? Get yourself used to working with as few tools as possible, and really try to push yourself to see what you really need to survive.
2. All Gear, No Knowledge
Lots of preppers have all the gear and tools, but when it comes to using it, they have no clue. I like to call them armchair preppers.
It is vital to have the knowledge needed to be able to use your gear properly, and also the knowledge of how to survive. Edible plants, hunting, skinning animals, medical care, the list goes on.
If you are an armchair prepper, get out and start using your gear! Learn what it does, and how to use it safely.
Start reading books, and learning what you can do when in the wild to survive. Knowledge is power!
3. Failing to Make a Plan
A lot of prepeprs fail to make a plan for SHTF. Planning is essential, and without a plan, you are planning to fail. Write out a plan of what you will do in certain situations, for example, a blackout, flu pandemic, hurricane and so on.
Plan things such as routes to bug out locations, what you will do if you are not home, home security, water sources, food sources, how you can generate electric along with everything else.
