Have you ever heard of actuarial science? According to a video by Canadian Prepper, it is “the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to access risk in insurance, finance and other industries.” It’s basically the scientific way of finding out how likely a disaster is.
Likely global disasters is a rather interesting topic, many people fear social unrest, terrorist attacks, hurricanes and such. Did you know, you are more likely to die choking on food, than in a terrorist attack? One of the disasters I have been prepping for, and fear the most is actually on this list, it’s a disaster that I have been thinking since high school!
According to science, the most likely global disasters to strike are as follows:
- Global Pandemic
A global flu pandemic is one of the things I have been prepping for, since I began prepping, and I believe it could be one of the worst disasters to hit the planet. A global flu pandemic could wipe out the majority of the earths population in a matter of months, maybe even weeks if it is not contained. During a flu pandemic, there would be mass riots, WROL, martial law, social unrest, and shortages of resources to name a few.
- Economic/Ecological Disaster
Drought, oil shortages, pollution, climate change, food shortages… all of these could lead to increased crime, housing problems, money issues, health issues, and so on. An economic or ecological disaster is not something you want to overlook, and is worth including in your prepping plan.
- World War 3
Nuclear war is unlikely, as the powers that be understand the results of a full blown nuclear war, however, world war 3 could be carried out a number of ways. Cyber attacks, economic warfare, biological warfare and so on. Each of these will have a great impact on the everyday family.
This list of likely global disasters is in no way saying that other disasters will not occur, you may get caught up in a terrorist attack, or a hurricane depending on where you live, so continue prepping for events that are a threat in your area, and continue to be vigilant!
